Melinda contacted me late last year about shooting her wedding. But before they made it legal, they wanted to head downtown and take some family portraits. We were originally planning on Mount Washington, but settled on hanging around Station Square for the afternoon.

A few months ago, we headed out to Columbus for the annual Ohio Cup (which, I know, boys. I haven’t edited the photos yet. They’re coming, I swear). Anyway. Over some margaritas and nachos, I got to talking to Amanda about how they hadn’t had a family portrait done in a really long time. We finally found a good time for everyone, and made a few stops around South Park to take some shots.

We took twelve members of my immediate(ish) family, booked a lake house for the week in Deep Creek, Maryland, and had ourselves a party. We swam in the lake, golfed, played cards, rode go-karts, had a dance party on the deck… it was a blast. There are lots more photos on the Facebook, but I thought I’d share a few here as well.
We were already planning next year’s before we left this one. My folks know how to do a vacation.

I’m not crafty. Sure I can sew a bit, I can make a linoleum block print, but Martha Stewart gives me hives. Still, once in a blue moon, I have a good idea.
We decided to go pretty low-key on our wedding as a whole, and I decided to use photos as centerpieces for the reception. I bought a bunch of silver frames, and had family members hunt down whatever wedding photos they could get their hands on. After the wedding, I could keep the photos and hang them in our home. Nearly four years later, I finally got around to that second part, and these are now hanging next to my desk.
