John Craig organized a photo walk in Pittsburgh for this morning. With John taking off for Atlanta, things were a little hectic, and I missed the meet up.

I figured since I’d already found parking (and driven the hour or so up to Pitt), I may as well hang out and take some photos. I don’t usually bother to post EXIF data on shots, but since the day was really more about learning than the finished product, I thought I’d share. I get a pretty even split of clients and photographers reading the blog, so if you’re interested, the info is there. All of these were taken with my shiny new 35mm f/1.8 lens, and my equally shiny new D300s (I upgraded!)

I thought I’d take some time to play around with the self-timer. Yes, this is what I generally look like when I’m not working. There’s about a 90% chance that I’m listening to Bad Religion or Green Day while editing your wedding photos.

Right about here, I noticed a group walking around by the pier. I’d found them! I made some quick introductions, and got to spend the rest of the walk meeting some great photographers and figuring out the new camera.

You might notice that my ISO jumps quite a bit here. It’s not only because it was darker in this area, we were asked to set it to the highest ISO we had. Generally, I keep mine as low as possible, and change other settings whenever possible. So it was interesting to try something out that I don’t usually do.

I believe the plan is to hold a few more of these, before it gets too cold outside. They’re all very nice people, and happy to share whatever knowledge they have. Let me just say that I got up early on a Sunday, with no coffee, and spent about two hours hiking around in the rain. Totally worth it.
